Tennis On-Court, an upcoming VR tennis simulator from developer Fishing Cactus and publisher Perp Games, will officially launch on the PS VR2 on October 20th, 2023. Today’s new release date trailer showcases a range of key mechanics and features.

Tennis On-Court first launched in June 2023 and is available now on Meta Quest, published by Decathlon. You can watch today’s release date trailer on the Perp Games YouTube channel:

The devs have distinctly intended for Tennis On-Court to celebrate the sport itself, aiming to include as much variety as possible in the gameplay.

This includes both an arcade and realistic approach, to the point that players can decide between automatic or manual movement. This will allow players to choose between a casual or try-hard experience. It’ll also be very useful for players who are either new or uncomfortable with the VR medium.

There are also a wide range of modes, which allow you to play against AI, with friends, or online. There are even training modes, and plenty of customization options, so that players can make the experience their own.

In this way, Tennis On-Court is a very accessible game. So, it will definitely benefit from a PS VR2 release, which has undeniable mainstream appeal and unique technological features.

Sports games often choose between arcade or realism. Since players can select for themselves here, it’s important to note that the devs frequently cite the “the experience of Decathlon and Artengo engineers”. So, it could potentially interest newcomers in the real sport, as well as those who already enjoy it.

The visuals look decent enough for a VR experience, which can still look a little skewed in even the highest budget titles. Today’s trailer description even mentions that the game features motion-captured animations, which certainly helps with realism.
