Remedium, an upcoming post-apocalyptic twin-stick shooter from developer Sobaka Studio and publisher ESDigital Games, will officially launch into Early Access on September 14th, 2023, starting on the Epic Games Store and Steam, where you can wishlist the game now. Today’s new trailer features both cinematics and gameplay.
Remedium also plans on releasing for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. However, it isn’t explicitly stated when or if these platforms will support Early Access. You can watch today’s Early Access release date trailer on the ESDigital Games YouTube channel:
Sobaka Studio recently released REMEDIUM: Sentinels in July, which instead focused on a mecha twist of the same universe, a novelty that is somewhat missed in this twin-stick shooter. There may not be enough distinguishable features for fans of the genre to check this one out.
The plot centers on a plague, survivors, and hordes of various horrific creatures like chimeras, mutants, elementals, gargoyles and golems.
Remedium will use alchemy as the theme for its crafting system, where players can boost their abilities and create potions or injections. Perhaps the most interesting part of Remedium’s premise is that the hero has already become one of the infected, and they must work against or with their symptoms.
The art and sound design are also impressive, resulting in a world that feels highly immersive and lived in. In fact, the opening cinematics in today’s trailer could easily justify an animated series. It would be fun to simply explore this universe, discovering strange new enemies and grim environments.
There are some hints at the potential hero abilities, such as the deployable bubbles, as well as a variety of weapons to expect. Future trailers still have at least a month before Early Access to elaborate on some of the specifics and mechanics that offer more of a hook.
