The British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) is a world-leading independent arts charity. Besides the Awards ceremonies, BAFTA has a year-round, international program of learning events and initiatives that offers unique access to some of the world’s most inspiring talent through workshops, masterclasses, scholarships, lectures, and mentoring schemes in the UK, USA, and Asia.

Last night at BAFTA 2022, several gaming titles received well-deserved awards, including Returnal and No Man’s Sky.

Returnal is a rogue-like, third-person shooter developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Returnal has a haunting narrative, intensive and strategy-driven gameplay, and a thrilling and immersive journey for players. Even though this game is only available on PlayStation 5, it has been well-received by gamers who love a challenge. Because of this, Returnal won not only the Best Game award but also won the Music award and the Audio Achievement award.

One of the more exciting awards announcements went to No Man’s Sky. No Man’s Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy and is available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. It is an incredible game to lose yourself in with over 30 hours of storyline content, multiple worlds to explore, and a VR option.

No Man’s Sky won the award for Evolving Game, going against other notable titles such as Among Us, Disco Elysium, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Apex Legends, and Fortnite. Receiving this award is an incredible achievement for this game and its developers.

Some of this year’s winners include Forza Horizon 5 for Best British Game, and Daniel Mullins’ meta-fictional title Inscryption won Game Design. It Takes Two took home the awards for Multiplayer release and Original Property, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart received the Animation and Technical Achievement awards.
