It should be hard to believe that No Man’s Sky launched back in 2016. But the devs have continued to support and evolve this game in legitimately relevant ways. Meanwhile, a AAA title like Marvel’s Avengers is releasing its final content update after just three stumbling years.

Today’s trailer begins like the splash page of a comic book, with a barrage of details in a single jog. There’s no question that No Man’s Sky has done it again. The Interceptor Update is filled with lots of creative twists on familiar mechanics and tools, proving just how boundless the universe of No Man’s Sky is in particular.

The new trailer smartly spends a lot of time showing off the anticipated Sentinel cockpit, which looks absolutely gorgeous. It feels familiar, but just inventive enough to create a different piloting experience.

The new guardians also have some incredible designs. They boast unusual limbs and personalities that have an uncanny mystery about them, just like the new anomalous crystals that fuel Sentinel technology. Although it was fun to speculate about Sentinel tech, opening that up to players clearly opened up a lot of storytelling and inspired visuals.

The Interceptor Update has an overwhelming amount of new content, including everything from new worlds to cosmetics. The sheer ambition of every update for No Man’s Sky keeps it fresh and rewarding enough to satisfy longtime fans and invite new ones.
