Starfield has finally had its release date announced, scheduled to drop for players on September 6, 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Since its official announcement way back in 2018, Bethesda’s Starfield has been one of the most anticipated titles in recent gaming. While every preview of the game has been technically impressive and great at building player hype, the game has built something of a reputation as the title that will never be, thanks to frequent delays and setbacks.

That looks to no longer be the case, as this is the first and hopefully last official date set for Starfield’s release.

Though having a release date announced for Starfield is exciting, some are feeling a bit of disappointment as this is, once again, a delay in the title’s planned release. Bethesda originally last announced that the game would release in the first half of 2023, which unfortunately is no longer the case.

Delay or not, it seems players will definitely be getting their hands on Starfield before the year is out, and there will be more to come from the development team to tide players over before the game’s launch.

As stated by Todd Howard in the announcement video, Starfield will be receiving an official showcase on June 11th. This will give players a much bigger look at what’s to come when the game launches in September.

Bethesda and director Todd Howard seem incredibly excited, both for Starfield’s launch and what the game means for the company. As Howard explains in the video, the game is not only the first new game released by the team in a while, but the newest universe for the RPG producing game studio to tell stories in.

As the official Starfield website puts it, “Starfield is the first new universe in 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.”
