Bethesda has released information about the quests in its forthcoming game, Starfield, during the recent Xbox Direct event. For the first time in over 25 years, Bethesda is launching a new universe, presenting players with unlimited opportunities for exploration and adventure.

Starfield, not only offers players a single world but an astounding multitude of over a thousand worlds to explore. The game offers a truly immersive experience, simulating galaxies realistically. Every object, from the smallest pebble to the towering mountains, the celestial bodies, and the intriguing creatures, isn’t merely a backdrop; these elements are physically present and can be interacted with, adding an unparalleled depth to the gameplay.

Powered by cutting-edge technology, Bethesda has managed to create a dynamic gaming environment where even the type of star and the atmosphere makeup of a planet affects the game’s lighting. An all-new animation system further enhances the gaming experience, offering players the choice to switch between first and third-person perspectives.

Starfield stays true to Bethesda’s RPG roots by rewarding exploration and discovery. Given the game’s vast scale, players will explore different areas, collect resources, undertake missions, and potentially stumble upon unexpected discoveries. To encourage curiosity, Bethesda has designed an all-encompassing data menu, the hub for every in-game action such as checking skills, missions, inventory, and even monitoring the ship.

Players can choose to walk back to their ship or opt for the fast travel option. Awaiting them onboard are their chosen crew members, creating a sense of familiarity and camaraderie.

The central theme of Starfield draws inspiration from the golden age of early space flight, intending to evoke a sense of wonder and majesty associated with space exploration. Bethesda has coined the term “NASA Punk” to describe the game’s design language, characterized by advanced yet grounded technology.

In Starfield, the players’ ship is more than a mode of transportation; it serves as a home for the crew. The design of the ship and the spaces within the game showcase a slightly retro, analog touch, an aesthetic reminiscent of lo-fi science fiction, creating a lived-in and comfortable ambiance.

Bethesda also unveiled a new feature – a star map, enabling players to view all the planets in the system, access their resources, and even select landing spots or fast travel to known locations. The star map also allows players to view other systems within the galaxy, offering the opportunity to travel light years away using the ship’s grav drive. However, venturing to the most distant systems requires skill upgrades and enhancements to the ship.

Starfield also introduces Constellation, a mythical group of the last true explorers in the galaxy. This group aims to answer humanity’s biggest questions and players will encounter a diverse cast of characters in their journey with Constellation.

The game also features different factions and cities, each with unique narratives and gameplay opportunities. The United Colonies, for instance, is home to the first major human settlement in space, New Atlantis. The city of Cydonia on Mars is another intriguing location, serving as the largest mining facility for the United Colonies.

Beyond the United Colonies lies the Freestar Collective, a wild and independent coalition of star systems. Here players may find themselves in Akila City, or Neon, a city famous as a pleasure destination. These areas, full of life and opportunities, contrast sharply with the unclaimed systems, home to hostile factions in the galaxy.

With Starfield, Bethesda is pushing the boundaries of gaming, creating an intricate universe that invites players to step into humanity’s future and carve their own path among the stars.
