Hojo Studio has officially announced the release date for its upcoming action roguelike title, The Godfeather: A Mafia Pigeon Saga. On October 6th, The Godfeather will make its debut on PC via Steam, while Nintendo Switch players can expect an early 2024 release.
Derived from the iconic mob drama film, Hojo Studio’s The Godfeather brings an unconventional twist on the crime saga. The game immerses players in a savage tale of feathered vengeance from the pigeon underworld.
In The Godfeather: A Mafia Pigeon Saga, players are tasked with taking back the old neighborhood by using the powers of pigeon persuasion. Players will strive to survive four brutal procedurally-generated neighborhoods, each filled with unique targets, hazards, increasing difficulty, and deadly area bosses. As they take on the role of a rising associate in the pigeon underworld, players must fulfill missions from HQ and face boss encounters to progress through the story.
Players will use Swoop to strike fear in their enemies and Poop to take out their targets from above. Players will also need to loot dumpsters to reload their poop ammo and search for the fabled Golden Twigs of Pigeon legend. Between missions, players can also visit the roost where they can upgrade their abilities, equip gadgets for tactical edge, or get a whole new look.
Danger lurks everywhere in The Godfeather, as enemy spies, such as drones, cats, cockatoos, and more, are on the lookout to capture the player. Once identified by these threats, players must act swiftly and look for trees or dumpsters to hide. Players must also be vigilant of garden-owning Karens standing ready with their hoses, and predatory owls awaiting their chance to strike at dusk.
