Reports have emerged today, suggesting that Tencent, a renowned Chinese technology and entertainment conglomerate, is collaborating with Riot Games to bring a cinematic adaptation of the immensely popular first-person tactical hero shooter, VALORANT. The information came to light through a recent post on the prominent VALORANT leaker’s Twitter page, KINGDOM LABORATORIES.

In the post, the VALORANT leaker mentioned that the trailer for “VALORANT – THE MOVIE (2025)” is scheduled to make its debut on October 13, 2024. The tweet included a link to a YouTube live stream for the trailer’s premiere. Although the original tweets were in Portuguese, the English translation from Google suggests as much. The leaker reaffirmed this news by retweeting their earlier post and noting that the project is being produced by Tencent in China. The leaker also highlighted that the movie’s style will differentiate from Arcane but maintain similarity to VALORANT‘s previous cinematic trailers.

Considering the success and acclaim earned by Riot Games’ Arcane, their debut animated television series, it is only reasonable to assume that the gaming giant is eager to expand its intellectual properties through cinematic adaptations. While this could be an exciting development for gaming and cinema fans alike, Riot Games has yet to confirm or disprove the existence of a VALORANT movie.

VALORANT fans have long been treated to a visual feast of cinematic trailers with each new episode installment, as well as with the introduction of new agents and maps, offering a bigger look at the game’s narrative. While in-game, players can also find lore-infused items scattered throughout the maps, granting them deeper insights into the VALORANT universe. Despite these sources of lore, the exact nature of a full-length VALORANT movie is still shrouded in speculation within the fan community.
