The original Blasphemous by The Game Kitchen landed on just about everything in September 2019: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and eventually, the Nintendo Switch. Fast forward, and the question arises: What platforms will Blasphemous 2 debut on? Will it be exclusive to next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series, or will it echo its predecessor and release on the PS4?

Is Blasphemous 2 releasing on PlayStation 4?

Blasphemous 2 is indeed coming to the PS4. While the launch trailers and initial details highlighted its release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Further details emerged confirming its release on the PS4 platform.

This is great news for those sticking with the older generation for whatever reason, waiting for it to become cheaper, waiting for a Pro version, etc. The PlayStation 4 still has a vast player base, and it is a smart move by The Game Kitchen to still cater to the previous console generation. It’s also a lovely thought that those who played Blasphemous on PS4 can continue on the legacy of Blasphemous 2 using the same console.

What is the release date for Blasphemous 2 on PS4?

The release date for the PS4 version of Blasphemous 2 remains a mystery, but a tweet from the official Blasphemous Twitter account has given us a timeframe: Autumn 2023. This indicates that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Blasphemous 2 will be available sometime between September and December of that year.

Now that the embargo on Blasphemous 2 reviews has lifted, various critiques have emerged, including our own. Interestingly, two reviewers have reviewed the PlayStation 4 version on Metacritic but have now been removed from the page, but you can still see one of them on NoisyPixel that clearly states Reviewed on PS4. So this raises the question: could the PS4 version be slated for an August 24, 2023, release, or because these two reviews have been removed, it’s still destined for Fall 2023? While we can’t say for sure, we’re eager to find out.
