Starbreeze Entertainment, the developer and publisher renowned for the iconic PAYDAY series, has released its comprehensive financial report detailing the company’s performance throughout the second quarter of 2023. This comes on the heels of the imminent release of PAYDAY 3, the latest installment in the co-op first-person shooter series.
The financial report highlights the positive reception of the Payday 3 reveal, generating an impressive surge of interest with over 1.5 million wishlists amassed on the Steam platform. Notably, the Q2 2023 Earnings report indicates that net sales for the quarter achieved SEK 43 million, approximately equivalent to 4 million USD, and consisted of 99 percent of PAYDAY 2.
In addition to the earnings throughout the second quarter of 2023, Starbreeze Entertainment has offered insights into the progress of its previously announced PAYDAY TV/film adaptation. The report also hints at the company’s future plans, revealing the development of a new AAA co-op multiplayer game, codenamed “Project BAXTER.” Starbreeze further disclosed that, while the project remains within the studio’s usual niche, it ventures into an entirely new genre, setting it apart from the familiar landscape of PAYDAY.
In May, we announced that we are in advanced negotiations to license an iconic brand characterized by collaborative experiences and storytelling in an expansive world. Fans of our games will recognize themselves, but at the same time, it is a completely new project, in a completely new genre, compared to PAYDAY.

Although Starbreeze Entertainment will act as both the developer and publisher for Project BAXTER, the company remains open to exploring opportunities to add external partners for the project’s physical and digital distribution.
As of now, specifics about Project BAXTER are completely under wraps. Starbreeze would likely share more details by the end of the year or sometime in 2024. In any case, this revelation has certainly ushered in a wave of anticipation among fans, who are eager to see how Starbreeze Entertainment will continue to evolve.
