Rebellion has teased their upcoming projects and some key updates for their action shooter Sniper Elite 5, including details fans can expect in the next update, as well as a Complete Edition. The Complete Edition will officially arrive on August 24th, 2023. It will come with the base game, Season Pass One and Season Pass Two in a single bundle, and it’ll be available on all major platforms.
Sniper Elite 5 will also be adding 3-second spawn protection, and the fan-selected Sniper Elite Weekly Event. You can watch today’s full update from Rebellion on their official YouTube channel:
Today’s video will surely disappoint fans who were hoping to learn more about what specific IP Rebellion would be adapting from the acclaimed 2000 AD comics universe. The video’s title is only referring to the previous announcement that Rebellion made about partnering with Good Shepherd for game adaptations, though some of the staples like Judge Dredd remain likely selections.
The Sniper Elite 5 teases are small but crucial. Spawn camping is a serious issue in many games, let alone Sniper Elite 5. It allows advanced players to smother casual fans into oblivion, which isn’t challenging for the former, nor fun for the latter. Adding spawn protection will allow underdogs the chance to regroup and actually participate in the game.
Since Sniper Elite 5 recently joined the PlayStation Plus lineup last month, it’s appropriate timing for the Complete Edition to release. There may be some new fans who want to invest in the full experience. And hopefully, this special release also signals that the series is looking to the future.
Today’s video specifically teases the future, but neglects to explore it, aside from the existing news about 2000 AD. Ideally, Sniper Elite itself will continue to expand, and not just on tabletop. Still, the devs have been pretty consistent about updating the game, and Season 2 only just rolled out in March.
